New article on Dellazoppa Frères, a hardware trading company that was founded in Paris, France in 1871 by François and Jean Dellazoppa. The company operated in Paris, Buenos Aires, and Brussels during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and produced a range of hardware and related products including metallic #ammunition such as #pinfire #cartridges.
Here is a great #militaryhistory post for @militaryhistory
Wrote a new article on the a collection of three German-language #Bibles printed in America by the Saur family in the 1740s-1770s. The third edition played a role in the American Revolutionary #War, as British soldiers used its pages to make paper #cartridges!
These large 4-gauge #pinfire #shotshells were used in punt #guns to shoot multiple birds in a single shot, and they make the other ones look tiny in comparison.
@researchpress That reminds me; I need to follow up with a couple of the contributors to that book that I was talking to recently. They had no idea that Sharps patented and made a pinfire cartridge in the US during the American Civil War.

Yeah it looks like there has been an open issue for years to support that: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/12423
@researchpress make sure you follow @historian too! He recently joined my server and is testing all of this out as well!
Hello all! Here is my #introductions post.
I am a #collector #historian and #researcher of early 19th century breech-loading #firearms.
I have a special interest in #pinfire #cartridges and firearms and research everything about them from their use in #MilitaryHistory to #hunting and all about the intricacies of the various manufacturers.
I am a director in the International Ammunition Association and a member of the American Society of Arms Collectors.
The #Lefaucheux model 1859 #carbine was a small carbine Eugène Lefaucheux made with hopes to gain #military acceptance. It is a very simple design with few moving parts. It only weighs 4.5 pounds and has an overall length of 3 feet 4 inches.
A couple of the very earliest #pinfire #shotshells ever, shown with an early example of a double barrel pinfire #shotgun made by Casimir #Lefaucheux around 1840. I love these early examples!
In the 1980s, the company, Spalek’Arm, owned by a Frenchman named Christophe Spalek of Le Cergne, France made a line of #pinfire #shotshells and #pistol #cartridges made of plastic! 145 years after their invention!
Posted a new article on Henry H. Schleber & Co of Rochester, New York; a manufacturer of thread-wound shot concentrators that would allow #hunters to shoot ducks, geese, turkeys, foxes and other animals that were difficult to get close to, from further away.
